Jamal Musiala attracted attention before Germany’s opening match against Curaçao at the 2026 World Cup after FIFA ordered him to cover the logo on his Beats by Dre headphones.
The Bayern Munich star arrived for the match wearing his usual headphones. However, the familiar Beats “b” logo had been hidden beneath a strip of black tape.
Why FIFA Made Jamal Musiala Cover the Beats Logo?
FIFA applies strict sponsorship and marketing regulations during the World Cup. Only brands officially associated with the tournament are allowed to receive visible exposure in certain areas.
Beats by Dre has been part of the Apple Group since 2014, but the company is not an official sponsor of the 2026 World Cup.
Because of this, Musiala was reportedly instructed to hide the company’s logo before Germany’s World Cup opener against Curaçao. The logo was quickly covered with black tape so that it could no longer be seen.
FIFA Sponsorship Rules Apply to World Cup Stars
The situation was particularly notable because Jamal Musiala is a spokesperson for Beats by Dre and regularly appears in the brand’s advertising campaigns.
Despite his personal partnership with the company, FIFA did not make an exception for the Germany and Bayern Munich forward.
The incident shows how strictly FIFA’s World Cup sponsorship rules are applied. Even leading players and their personal endorsement deals must follow the tournament’s marketing regulations when appearing at official World Cup events.
