Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez is closing in on a return to action after recovering from the injury that kept him out of the World Cup, with the Spaniard hoping to feature in the club’s upcoming Joan Gamper Trophy fixture.
Having rejoined first-team training, Fermin is optimistic about getting minutes when Barcelona face Al Ahly on August 19.
“I’m feeling better every day. I don’t have any discomfort, which is the most important thing. If everything goes well, I could play a few minutes in the Gamper.”
The midfielder also outlined Barcelona’s ambitions for the season, identifying the UEFA Champions League as the club’s primary target.
“The dream of winning the Champions League is shared by the whole team. We’ve come close in the last two years. This season could be the one.”
Fermin also expressed his support for potential additions to the squad, saying Karim Adeyemi “will help us a lot”, if joins the squad.
