Atletico Madrid have officially announced they will file a complaint with FIFA against Barcelona over their approach for Julian Alvarez, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Atletico CEO Gil Marin confirmed the decision, stating: “It is our responsibility to defend the club’s interests.”
The complaint accuses Barcelona of negotiating with Alvarez during his protected contract period — a direct breach of FIFA transfer regulations.
The 26-year-old publicly requested a transfer following Argentina’s 2-0 win over Austria at the World Cup, telling ESPN: “I think the best thing for everyone is a transfer. I want to fulfil my dream.”
Atletico insist the Argentine is not for sale below his €500m release clause.
