Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed that the club’s first major signing for next season will be announced on Thursday, just days before members head to the polls for the club’s presidential election.
Speaking to El Espanol, Perez outlined his ambitions for the next phase of his presidency and made clear that strengthening the squad remains a top priority.
The 79-year-old pointed to Real Madrid’s long-standing objective of attracting elite talent as he addressed supporters ahead of Sunday’s vote.
“Everyone knows what my sporting project is: to have the best players and to keep winning,” Perez said.
Alongside the transfer update, Perez also confirmed that a decision on the club’s managerial position will soon be made public. While he stopped short of naming the incoming coach, he indicated that supporters would not have to wait long for confirmation.
“Shortly, I will announce who the new Real Madrid manager will be,” he said.
Perez declined to comment on speculation linking Jose Mourinho with the role, offering no indication as to whether the former Madrid boss is under consideration.
The Real Madrid president also used the interview to encourage club members to participate in Sunday’s election, stressing the importance of the vote for the future direction of the club.
“I encourage members to come and vote because we are playing for Real Madrid itself,” Perez said.
Confident in both his sporting project and the club’s prospects, Perez reiterated his belief that success will continue under his leadership.
“People who know me know that the best players will be at Real Madrid and that a Champions League or two will follow,” he added.
Thursday’s announcement is now expected to provide the first major indication of Madrid’s plans for the upcoming season, with the club preparing for both a new signing and the appointment of a new manager.
