Real Madrid have officially confirmed the signing of Ibrahima Konate following his departure from Liverpool.
The France international will leave Anfield when his contract expires on June 30 after Liverpool and the player were unable to agree terms on a new deal.
Liverpool also confirmed the move in a statement on their official website.
“It was announced last month that Konate was to leave Anfield at the end of June after a five-year stay with the Reds,” Liverpool said.
The defender made 183 appearances for Liverpool after joining from RB Leipzig in 2021 and won the Premier League, FA Cup, two Carabao Cups and the FA Community Shield during his time at the club.
Real Madrid confirmed that Konate has signed a contract until June 30, 2030.
“Real Madrid CF and Ibrahima Konate have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2030,” the club said.
Konate is currently with France at the World Cup and is expected to be formally presented by Real Madrid after the tournament.
