Al-Nassr are considering Portugal national team head coach Roberto Martinez as one of their primary targets to take charge of the Saudi Pro League champions, according to reports.
The Riyadh-based club launched their search for a new manager after parting ways with Jorge Jesus following the conclusion of the Saudi Pro League season.
Jesus departed on the back of a 4–1 victory over Al-Damak — a result that sealed the title for Cristiano Ronaldo’s side, bringing his tenure to a close on a high note.
Martinez has emerged as a leading candidate, with sources indicating that his strong personal relationship with Al-Nassr captain Ronaldo is a significant point in his favour.
The Spanish coach has managed Portugal since 2023 and has consistently spoken of Ronaldo in glowing terms, positioning the veteran forward as a central leader within the national team environment.
That existing rapport is believed to make him an attractive proposition for the Saudi club as they look to maintain their domestic dominance.
However, any move is expected to face considerable obstacles. Martinez is currently under contract with the Portuguese Football Federation and is reported to be fully focused on Portugal’s upcoming international commitments.
Prising him away from his national team role mid-cycle would require significant negotiation and the blessing of the federation.
Al-Nassr have not officially confirmed Martinez as a target, and the situation remains fluid. The club will be eager to appoint a high-profile successor quickly to ensure continuity heading into pre-season preparations.
Whether Martinez ultimately emerges as the man to lead them into the next chapter remains to be seen, but his name sits near the top of the shortlist for now.
