Lamine Yamal has explained why he wears a bandage on his right hand when he plays.
The Barcelona and Spain star has been seen wearing a full wrap on his right hand, along with two thin bandages around his middle fingers.
Many fans have wondered why the teenager uses the hand-wrap whenever he is on the pitch.
Yamal has now revealed that the reason comes from an incident while he was playing video games.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Yamal said he injured his fingers after punching his TV while playing PlayStation.
“I wrap my hand because I threw a punch at the TV while is was playing PlayStation,” Yamal said.
“I smashed my fingers, they ended up very swollen. Since then I wore the bandage and the hand-wrap fit me very well, as if I was Karim Benzema.”
Yamal said the look reminded him of former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, who often wore a similar hand-wrap during his career.
“We joked that I was KB9 [Benzema] so I decided to keep using it,” Yamal said.
“I think it looks great so I decided to keep it.”
Benzema wore a similar wrap for much of his Real Madrid career.
Yamal has now kept the bandage as part of his on-pitch look. A former Real Madrid doctor had another theory, but Yamal’s own explanation is that it started from a PlayStation-related injury and then became a style choice.
