Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has confirmed he will wear the iconic No. 10 jersey for Spain at the 2026 World Cup.
Spain’s squad numbers for the tournament have been officially announced, with Olmo taking the No. 10, Lamine Yamal retaining the No. 19, Gavi assigned the No. 9, Pedri given the No. 20, and Ferran Torres wearing the No. 7.
Speaking at a press conference, Olmo explained that the decision was straightforward. He dismissed rumors of any internal tension over the number, insisting everything is calm within the camp.
“There are no problems behind closed doors, there’s no fuss about wearing the No. 10. It’s just rumors going around outside,” he said.
“It’s a number I’ve worn before — the one we won the Euros with. It’s a number I like, so why change it when everything is going well?”
Olmo also provided a positive update on teenage star Lamine Yamal, who is recovering from injury.
“I see him doing well. He’s training little by little as part of his rehabilitation. He’s making good progress and we’re happy with that,” Olmo added.
Spain are currently in the final stages of preparation for the World Cup and will play their first warm-up match against Iraq on Thursday.
