Barcelona are weighing whether to continue their pursuit of Julian Alvarez, with the club increasingly conscious that time is becoming a factor in their efforts to sign the Atletico Madrid striker, according to SPORT.
Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco remain firmly in favour of bringing the Argentina international to the club. Alvarez continues to be their preferred attacking option despite several alternative forwards being linked with Barcelona.
However, the situation has led the Catalan side to consider imposing a deadline on the transfer pursuit. The end of next week could become a crucial point as Barcelona evaluate their discussions with Alvarez’s representatives.
At that stage, the club may have to choose between maintaining their efforts to secure Alvarez or turning their attention to another attacking target.
Barcelona’s expanding number of alternatives underlines the uncertainty surrounding the proposed move. Despite that, Flick and Deco continue to regard Alvarez as their first choice as the club enters an important phase of its transfer planning.
