Real Madrid claimed a dramatic 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabeu to remain one point behind La Liga leaders Barcelona.
Vinicius Junior opened the scoring in the first half, finishing confidently to give Madrid an early advantage.
Rayo responded after the break through Jorge de Frutos, whose equaliser shifted momentum in the visitors’ favour.
The game turned in the 83rd minute when Rayo midfielder Pathe Ciss was sent off, reducing the visitors to ten men.
Despite sustained pressure, Madrid struggled to find a breakthrough until stoppage time, when Kylian Mbappe converted a penalty in the 99th minute to secure all three points.
