Manchester City have pledged full support to defender Ruben Dias after a burglary at his home.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening while City were playing Galatasaray in the Champions League. Dias was present at the Etihad Stadium for the match, sidelined due to injury.
The burglary is linked to the so-called ‘away day’ gang, which targets footballers’ residences during high-profile matches. Stolen items included jewellery, electronics, and clothing.
Dias had moved into the Cheshire property shortly before Christmas with his partner, television presenter Maya Jama.
Assistant manager Pep Lijnders addressed the media ahead of the Tottenham fixture, confirming the club’s response.
“We try to support him as a club, of course,” said Lijnders.
“I didn’t speak with him personally at the moment. These other things, you don’t want to happen. So we will support him, and we’ll see how it goes from there.”
