AC Milan could be without Christian Pulisic for their upcoming Serie A fixture against Fiorentina after the winger suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with the United States.
Pulisic started for the USMNT in Tuesday’s friendly against Australia in Colorado but was forced off after just 30 minutes.
“He felt something in his hamstring,” coach Mauricio Pochettino confirmed after the match. “He will fly back to Italy, we will assess tonight, and we can’t say anything at the moment.”
The American has been one of Milan’s standout performers this season, registering four goals and two assists in six Serie A appearances and winning the league’s Player of the Month award for September.
He has started four of Milan’s six league games so far, but his absence could force Massimiliano Allegri into tactical changes.
[Calciomercato.com reports] that Christopher Nkunku is expected to replace Pulisic this weekend, having scored for France earlier in the week.
Rafael Leao also remains an option after leaving the Portugal camp early to work on his fitness, though he has not started since his injury in Milan’s Coppa Italia win over Bari in August.
