Former England footballer and manager Stuart Pearce is mourning the tragic loss of his son Harley, who died in a tractor crash in the Cotswolds last week.

According to reports, 21-year-old Harley Pearce was involved in a single-vehicle collision on the A417 Old Birdlip Hill in Witcombe, near Gloucester, at around 2:30pm.

Police confirmed that Harley, from Marlborough in Wiltshire, died at the scene.

In a heartfelt statement, his family said: “Our family is truly shocked and utterly heartbroken at the loss of our cherished son and devoted brother, Harley.

“He was a golden boy with an infectious smile, and this shocking tragedy will leave a huge hole in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.”

The tribute described Harley as a young man of “quiet, understated strength and deep kindness,” who showed “a wonderful work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit in the farming industry.”

“He will always be our shining star. Rest in peace, our beautiful son and brother. You will never ever be forgotten,” the statement added.

Police are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage from the scene to assist their investigation, quoting incident 284 of 16 October.

Harley was the youngest of two children Stuart Pearce shared with his ex-wife, Liz. The couple also have a daughter, Chelsea, an accomplished equestrian who represented Britain at three European Championships.

Stuart Pearce, who earned 78 caps for England and was awarded an MBE in 1999, is best known for his leadership at Nottingham Forest and his later work as a pundit for talkSPORT.
