Pep Guardiola has praised Kevin De Bruyne’s blistering start to life at Napoli, but warned Manchester City must be ready for the Belgian’s threat as he returns to the Etihad Stadium for Thursday’s Champions League clash.

Kevin De Bruyne is set for an emotional return to the Etihad Stadium this week as Napoli visit Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.
The Belgian midfielder, who departed City in the summer after nine glittering years, has wasted little time settling into life in Serie A. He has already scored twice in three league games for the Italian champions.
Speaking ahead of Thursday’s clash, Pep Guardiola admitted he was not surprised by De Bruyne’s instant impact.
“No surprise! Players at that level adapt so quick, players at that level don’t need much time to adapt and perform well,” Guardiola told reporters. “His incredible talent, vision, passes, assists, goals, in the final third – he’s unique!”
When asked about the reunion, Guardiola added with a smile:
“After the game, yeah. Of course it’s nice to have him back!”
Despite the warm words, City know they will have to deal with the quality De Bruyne brings. His vision and leadership made him a defining figure during Guardiola’s tenure in Manchester, and Napoli will count on him to trouble his old teammates.

De Bruyne is widely regarded as one of Manchester City’s greatest-ever players. Across nearly a decade, he established himself as one of the finest midfielders of his generation, helping Guardiola’s side dominate English football and lift the Champions League.
The Belgian received an emotional farewell from City fans in May, but Thursday night will mark his first return to the Etihad in opposition colors. A grand ovation from the stands is expected.
Manchester City, fresh off a derby victory against Manchester United, will look to build further momentum before a crucial Premier League showdown with Arsenal. However, Guardiola’s defense will face a stern test after early season vulnerabilities against Tottenham and Brighton.
For Napoli, led by Antonio Conte, De Bruyne has already emerged as a key figure. His creativity and finishing could prove decisive as the Italian side aims to start strongly in Group Stage competition.
