Christian Pulisic has addressed speculation linking him with the AC Milan captaincy while discussing the club’s ambitions for the season.

The USMNT star, nicknamed Captain America, has quickly become one of Milan’s key players since arriving from Chelsea in 2023. His leadership qualities and strong performances have sparked suggestions he could one day wear the captain’s armband at San Siro.

French goalkeeper Mike Maignan is currently club captain, with Matteo Gabbia serving as deputy. However, with Pulisic now fluent in Italian and thriving under Massimiliano Allegri, the American could be considered for a leadership role in the future.

When asked by DAZN about his nickname and the captaincy rumours, Pulisic said:

“It’s a cool nickname. Captain of AC Milan? For now, Captain America will do. We will see what happens.”

Pulisic reflected on his journey since leaving Chelsea, saying:

“I’ve always trusted myself, even during difficult times in London. Milan gave me the opportunity and believed in me. When you play more freely, you gain confidence — that means a lot.”

The 27-year-old has enjoyed his best form since joining the Rossoneri, scoring 15 goals in his debut season and 17 the following year. He has already netted six times in seven appearances this campaign and lifted the Supercoppa Italiana last season.

On his ambitions with the club, Pulisic said:

“I don’t think about history. The players before me are unreachable and inspire me. I’ll give everything for this team. I want to win and become part of AC Milan’s history.”

Despite missing out on European football this season, Milan’s focus is clear. Pulisic added:

“Our goal is definitely to return to the Champions League. It’s strange to see a club like Milan not participating. We have a strong team and will do everything to achieve that.”

While a new contract offer remains on the table, Pulisic’s immediate priority is maintaining his form as Milan, currently top of Serie A, prepare to face Juventus next.
