Paris Saint-Germain are ready for another club-versus-country row after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was called up by Georgia despite a thigh injury.

The winger picked up the problem in last weekend’s Ligue 1 clash with Auxerre, forcing him to miss the Champions League tie against Barcelona and Sunday’s trip to Lille. Medical reports suggest at least 10 days of recovery, leaving his chances of facing Spain in a World Cup qualifier on October 11 extremely slim.

Georgia boss Willy Sagnol has still included him in the squad, but PSG want him to remain in Paris to continue rehabilitation. The French champions’ stance comes after Ousmane Dembele returned from international duty last month with an aggravated thigh injury, sparking tension with the French Football Federation.

Luis Enrique is already dealing with multiple absences, including Dembele, Desire Doue and Marquinhos, and PSG are expected to push hard to keep Kvaratskhelia out of the international break.
