Piers Morgan reveals why he ranks Shane Warne above Cristiano Ronaldo

Piers Morgan has named Shane Warne as the only sportsman he ranks higher than Cristiano Ronaldo and believes the Portuguese star “would understand”.

The TV host, a long-time supporter of Ronaldo, said he considered the late Australian bowler “the greatest cricketer that’s ever lived.”

Speaking to Betfair, Morgan said: “Warney was a master bowler, but also had mental dominance, resilience, character and fun the whole package. If I had to choose one over the other, I’m going with Shane Warne. I love Ronaldo, but he would understand.”

Morgan added that if his life depended on a goal, he’d choose Ronaldo, but if it came down to a cricket match, Warne would be his pick.

The Arsenal fan also revealed he’d sacrifice seeing the Gunners lift the Premier League title if it meant England could win the Ashes in Australia this winter.

“Cricket was my first love,” he said. “I’d actually go with the Ashes win. When we win the Ashes in Australia, is there a better thing in sport? I don’t think so.”

Ronaldo, meanwhile, remains focused on his career with Al-Nassr and Portugal, as he targets the 2026 World Cup and chases the milestone of 1,000 career goals.
