England are cruising through their qualification campaign under Thomas Tuchel, winning all five group games so far and looking set to book their place at next summer’s tournament. But while Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka and Jude Bellingham may be ready to shine on the pitch, supporters could be priced out of the stands.
A report from The Athletic confirmed that the first fans granted access to FIFA’s ticket lottery have shared the true costs. While FIFA initially advertised tickets starting from $60, the full pricing structure paints a very different picture.
- USA opener in Los Angeles: $2,735 for a Category 1 ticket, $1,120 for Category 3, and even Category 4 comes in at $560.
- Mexico opener: $1,825 for Category 1. Canada opener: $1,745 for Category 1.
- World Cup Final: an astonishing $6,370 for Category 1, while the cheapest option is still $2,030.

For England fans, following the team all the way could cost around $13,015 at Category 1 prices, covering three group games and five knockout fixtures. That figure doesn’t include travel or accommodation across the USA, Mexico and Canada.
Adding to the drama, FIFA vice-president Victor Montagliani has suggested some matches may kick off after midnight to combat extreme summer heat. With broadcasters and organisers still finalising details, scheduling headaches could also add to the unique challenges of the first-ever 48-team World Cup.

Tuchel’s side, meanwhile, continue their march towards qualification, with fixtures against Latvia, Serbia and Albania still to come. While results have silenced some critics of Tuchel’s style, the biggest talking point now is whether fans can afford to cheer England on in person when football’s grandest stage arrives in 2026.
