Blackpool have expressed their outrage after winger CJ Hamilton was subjected to racist abuse on social media following Tuesday’s 2-2 draw against Luton Town. Hamilton, who scored both goals in the match at Bloomfield Road, received the abusive message shortly after the final whistle.

The club confirmed the incident has been reported to the police and relevant authorities, while pledging full support to the 30-year-old. In a strongly worded statement, Blackpool said they operate a “zero-tolerance policy” on racism and vowed to “take the strongest possible action” once the individual responsible is identified.
“Sadly, this is just the latest incident where one of our players has been on the receiving end of vile, racist abuse which has been directly sent to them on social media,” the club added. It again called on social media companies to take greater responsibility in tackling online hate.

Hamilton, described by the club as one of its longest-serving players, has been assured of continued backing both on and off the pitch.
