Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has shut down transfer speculation linking Michael Olise with a Premier League return, insisting the French winger will remain at the club long term despite interest from Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

BAYERN STAND FIRM OVER OLISE FUTURE

Reports in Germany claimed that several top clubs including Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and PSG are prepared to offer around €100 million (£87m/$118m) for Olise when the summer transfer window opens. In response, Bayern are reportedly planning a new contract for their star winger to fend off interest.

Olise, who has 54 goals and assists since the start of last season and 11 in 10 games so far in 2025/26, currently earns around €12m (£10m/$14m) a year a figure considered low compared to other elite players.

FREUND: “WE’RE NOT UNDER ANY PRESSURE”

Speaking on Sky90, Freund dismissed talk of a sale:

“We’re not under any pressure. We can imagine him playing for Bayern for the next seven, eight, nine years. Michael has a long-term contract, he proved himself and took steps forward.”

Olise signed a five-year deal in 2024, running until 2029, giving Bayern strong control over his future. The potential new deal would extend that further while raising his salary, though still below top earner Harry Kane.

FROM LONDON TO MUNICH

Born in London but representing France internationally through his mother, Olise previously turned down a move to Chelsea in 2023 despite the club triggering his £35m release clause at Crystal Palace. He renewed with Palace before later joining Bayern in 2024, after Chelsea withdrew from negotiations.

OLISE COMMITMENT TO BAYERN

Reflecting on his move, Olise told Bayern’s official magazine in December 2024:

“When I found out FC Bayern were seriously interested in me, it was an unbelievable moment. Now I realise the spirit of the club much more. The mentality of always wanting to win is impressive — that pressure makes me a better player.”

He added that his goal is to “make history with this team” and “leave a legacy” at Bayern, highlighting his determination to succeed in Munich.
