Messi’s current deal was set to expire at the end of the 2025 season, but the extension is expected to keep the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner in South Florida until at least 2028.
Since joining Inter Miami in 2023, Messi has transformed the club’s fortunes — delivering the Leagues Cup in his debut season, guiding them to the 2024 Supporters’ Shield, and collecting league MVP honors.
The 38-year-old had been linked with a potential move to the Saudi Pro League or a romantic return to boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys, but those rumors have now been dismissed. Messi and his family are reportedly settled in Miami, with co-owner David Beckham playing a key role in securing his long-term commitment.
