Marc Guehi has shared the inside story of his collapsed £35 million move to Liverpool this summer, which fell through midway through his medical at Crystal Palace.
The defender, now impressing at Manchester City after a strong debut, confirmed Liverpool had agreed a deal on deadline day. But Palace could not secure a replacement in time, forcing the transfer to be scrapped while Guehi was still in the MRI scanner.
“It was very close. Very close. The medical was pretty much done and then it got pulled at the last minute.
“My mindset is what will be, will be. It would be doing Palace a disservice if I was acting a certain way because the club’s given me everything.
“The least I can do is show up to work every single day, shut my mouth and keep my head down. I think that’s the most important thing.
“I’m really confident that this is the place for me to improve, to grow as a player. So I’m glad I could get over the line.”
