Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign Uruguayan defender Patricio Pacifico on a one-season loan from Defensor Sporting, with an option to buy.
According to Uriel Iugt, the deal has been finalised between the two clubs. Pacifico is expected to join Barca Atletic and initially feature for the B team.
The 19-year-old left-sided defender can also play as a centre-back or midfielder. He has already made his professional debut for Defensor Sporting and has trained with Uruguay’s senior national team under Marcelo Bielsa.
Valued at around €500,000, Pacifico had attracted interest from several European clubs. Barcelona now have the option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the loan spell.
