Liverpool Football Club has held exploratory discussions with the representatives of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ highly-rated young midfielder, Mateus Mane, regarding a potential transfer.
According to reports, the player’s camp recently visited Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre. The meeting is understood to have been an initial fact-finding mission rather than formal negotiations, with Mane’s representatives seeking to gauge the level of interest from the Merseyside club and understand the potential pathway for the 18-year-old.
The discussions are part of a wider strategy by the player’s team, who have been engaging with several top clubs across the country to assess the market for the teenager.
Mane has enjoyed a breakout season in the Premier League with Wolves. The midfielder has made nine league starts under manager Rob Edwards, featuring in every match since late December. His performances have yielded four goals and two assists, establishing him as one of the division’s most exciting young prospects.
While no formal offer is believed to have been made, Liverpool’s proactive approach in meeting with the player’s representatives signals their intent to compete for one of English football’s most promising young talents.
