Joao Cancelo is reportedly becoming increasingly unhappy with his lack of playing time since joining Barcelona in January.
According to Diario Sport, the Portuguese full-back has contacted Hansi Flick to seek clarity over his role after being left on the bench in three consecutive league matches.
One of the key issues is that Cancelo is still adjusting to Flick’s demanding, high-line defensive setup.
The German manager is easing him in cautiously, with Jules Kounde continuing to be favoured at right-back for now.
Speaking at the time of Cancelo’s arrival, Flick said: “Deco, the staff, and I have had many discussions. When Ronald returns, we’ll have options. Joao [Cancelo] can play on both wings. It’s a six-month contract; he’s a good option and has a lot of quality.”
