Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior believes goalkeeper Robert Sánchez is establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s top performers in his position, praising the Spaniard’s development and influence this season.
Rosenior highlighted Sánchez’s growing authority between the posts, pointing to a run of strong displays that have reinforced his status as Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper. The manager noted that the 28-year-old has delivered consistent performances, combining reliable shot-stopping with improved command of his area.
The Chelsea boss added that Sánchez’s distribution — once viewed as a weakness — has progressed significantly, with the goalkeeper showing confidence playing out from the back and initiating attacking moves.
Sánchez’s form has also been reflected in underlying numbers and match impact. He has registered multiple clean sheets in league competition this season, underlining his role in stabilizing Chelsea’s defensive record.
Beyond traditional goalkeeping duties, the Spaniard has contributed to Chelsea’s build-up play, even creating goal-scoring opportunities through forward passing — an area where he ranks among the most productive goalkeepers in the league.
Rosenior suggested that Sánchez still has room to grow despite his current level, describing his trajectory as upward and stressing that further improvement could elevate him into the elite bracket globally.
With Chelsea competing across domestic competitions, Sánchez’s continued form is viewed internally as crucial to the club’s ambitions, particularly as the team looks to build defensive consistency under Rosenior’s leadership.
