Trinity Rodman’s goal and celebration summed up a joyful night for the United States Women’s National Team as they claimed a 5-0 friendly win over Chile.
Rodman scored off the bench and celebrated with a dance toward head coach Emma Hayes, who later admitted she could not help but smile at the moment. “These players keep me young,” Hayes said, praising the energy within the squad.
The victory followed a 6-0 win over Paraguay and featured several first international goals, with Croix Bethune, Jameese Joseph and Emily Sams all scoring for the first time in a USWNT shirt.
Despite fielding the least experienced USWNT lineup since 2001, Hayes said she was pleased with the maturity shown by the group.
“Regardless of its inexperience, the team showed a lot of maturity in the performance,” she said.
Rodman’s late goal capped a dominant display and continued her growing influence, while the January camp saw 32 players earn debuts under Hayes, underlining the depth and competition within the squad.
