Karim Benzema has completed his move from Al Ittihad to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.
The transfer upset Al Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo, who refused to play for his club because he believes Al Hilal get more financial support. For Benzema, the move is about a new challenge.
He says he is already happy with his new team and is focused on winning more silverware.
Benzema’s First Impression
In his first interview for the club, Benzema told Al Hilal’s official website he felt at home right away and compared the club to his old team, Real Madrid.
“It’s good. I’m happy to be here,” he said. “After my first training, I’m so glad to be part of this team. It’s a good team with a good history. They have won a lot. It’s like Real Madrid in Asia.”
His Clear Goal: Winning Trophies
The French striker made it clear that he still has the hunger to win at the highest level.
“It’s a clear message,” Benzema said about his move. “You know my mentality. I have a lot of ambition. I will work, I will give everything. I will help this team and, inshallah, win trophies. For me, that is what matters.”

Behind the Move: History and Tension
Benzema knows how to win. He won 25 titles with Real Madrid and a league and cup double last season with Al Ittihad.
His transfer, however, caused tension. Ronaldo was reportedly angry that Al Hilal could afford such a signing while his own club, Al Nassr, could not.
Benzema and Ronaldo were once great partners at Real Madrid. Now, they are rivals in Saudi Arabia, with Benzema fully focused on success with his new club.
