Barcelona are close to securing a new and innovative source of income through a residential project in Dubai using the club’s brand.
According to reports, president Joan Laporta has agreed a deal to build apartments and houses in the Middle Eastern city under the FC Barcelona name and image.
The contract is set to run for several years and will provide the club with significant annual income. Barcelona have already received an initial payment as a down payment.
The agreement must still be approved by the club’s assembly of delegates before it becomes official.
Chelsea are among other clubs to have explored a similar revenue model in Dubai.
