Joao Felix move to Al-Nassr has ignited debate after the 25-year-old left Benfica interest behind to join the Saudi Pro League side in July.
Coach Jorge Jesus insists Felix made the right call, saying the Saudi Pro League is “much stronger” than Portugal’s.
“Joao Felix is a great player,” Jesus said at the Portugal Football Globes 2025. “He chose a league much stronger and more competitive than the Portuguese league.”

Jesus praised Portugal boss Roberto Martinez for pairing Felix with Cristiano Ronaldo, saying the duo chemistry could boost Portugal World Cup hopes.
“Martinez is being smart,” he said. “In the very first game, he put Felix and Cristiano together… Cristiano is a player in every way, both athletically and as a person.”
Under Jesus, Al-Nassr have won five out of five matches, with Felix and Ronaldo leading the scoring charts as their partnership continues to shine both domestically and internationally.
