Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, beating Chelsea to secure the 22-year-old playmaker in a €60 million (£52m/$70m) deal. The midfielder has signed a five-year contract with an optional two-year extension.
Simons Joins Spurs
After a two-year spell in Germany, initially on loan and then permanently from January, Simons moves to north London to strengthen Thomas Frank’s squad. Spurs have spent much of the summer chasing creative midfielders, missing out on Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White, but this deal sees them finally land a marquee No.10.

The Dutch international came through Barcelona’s famed academy, before moving to Paris Saint-Germain, where he made 11 first-team appearances. He has also represented the Netherlands 28 times, scoring five goals at senior international level.
