Benjamin Sesko continued his impressive start at Manchester United by scoring in the 2-0 Premier League victory over Sunderland, earning praise from the player he replaced, Rasmus Hojlund.

After a challenging start to the season, Sesko opened the scoring at Old Trafford with his first home goal for the Red Devils, doubling the lead 23 minutes after Mason Mount’s opener. This marked his second consecutive goal following his breakthrough strike in last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Brentford.

Hojlund, currently on loan at Napoli, took to Instagram to congratulate Sesko, writing: “Congrats my friend.” The Slovenian forward was brought in over the summer to replace the Danish striker, who struggled to make an impact at United.

Hojlund, however, has thrived in Italy, scoring three goals in his first five appearances and playing a key role in Napoli’s attack under Antonio Conte. The Serie A champions also have a conditional obligation to sign Hojlund permanently next summer for €44 million.

Looking ahead, Sesko will aim to continue his scoring form during the international break. Slovenia face Kosovo on October 10 and Switzerland on October 13 in World Cup qualifiers, seeking their first wins of the campaign.
