Manchester United legend Nani has urged Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney to show public support for the club as Ruben Amorim leads a dramatic revival at Old Trafford.
The four-time Premier League winner said United “need the support” of their biggest names as they rebuild from last season’s struggles.
[Speaking to Covers.com], Nani said: “Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney continue to be very important figures for Man Utd. They still inspire players at the club and the club needs the support at the moment.”
He added: “Having players like those two in the future will be very difficult, but it’s great whenever they are asked about the club and they give their advice and their support. We all need to encourage the players, the manager and the fans to continue to believe we can turn everything around.”

United endured a dismal 2024/25 campaign, finishing 15th in the Premier League and crashing out of Europe. Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag mid-season, initially struggled to steady the team but has since guided them to an unexpected resurgence.
After early defeats this season, United have climbed back to sixth in the table — level on points with Manchester City — following impressive wins over Brighton and Liverpool at Anfield.
Amorim’s 3-4-3 system has brought structure and attacking fluency, with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko revitalising United’s frontline. Captain Bruno Fernandes has also played a key role in restoring belief among fans.
Nani, who won four league titles and a Champions League with United, believes unity between players, legends, and supporters is crucial if Amorim’s side are to reclaim their former glory.
