Erling Haaland brace inspires Man City to 2–0 victory over Everton

Erling Haaland continued his remarkable form with a devastating second-half brace as Manchester City beat Everton 2–0 at the Etihad Stadium.

The Norwegian striker, who had been quiet for much of the game, struck twice in five minutes to break the deadlock and secure three points for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Haaland opened the scoring on 58 minutes with a thumping header from Nico O’Reilly’s cross before adding a first-time finish shortly after from Savinho’s lay-off.

The double took his season tally to 23 goals in just 13 appearances for club and country including strikes in 11 consecutive games and moved him within touching distance of a Premier League century with 96 goals in 105 appearances.

Before Haaland’s intervention, Everton had defended stoutly, with Jordan Pickford fresh off signing a new contract producing several sharp saves to deny Savinho and Jeremy Doku.

The visitors threatened sporadically through Beto and Iliman Ndiaye, but City eventually turned dominance into goals as Haaland’s ruthlessness told once again.

Pickford twice denied the City forward a hat-trick in stoppage time, but the result was already sealed.

Since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, Haaland has now scored an astonishing 138 goals in 155 games for Manchester City a record that continues to defy belief.
