Chelsea’s hierarchy showed their frustration after a 3-1 home defeat to Brighton, with co-owner Behdad Eghbali heading straight to the dressing room.

Enzo Fernandez had put Enzo Maresca’s side ahead, but Trevoh Chalobah’s red card turned the tide. Brighton responded through Danny Welbeck’s equaliser, Maxim De Cuyper’s stoppage-time header, and a late second from Welbeck.

The loss means Chelsea have gone two league games without a win since the international break and now sit seventh.

According to Daily Telegraph reporter Matt Law, Eghbali was joined by sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, as well as Joe Shields and Sam Jewell from the recruitment team.

Maresca confirmed the post-match visit but downplayed its significance:

“We have an office inside the changing room, where after every game, we sit and we talk about the game. But they did not say anything to the players. It was nothing completely different compared to the rest of the games.”
