Son Heung-min has confirmed that he plans to return to Tottenham Hotspur to properly say goodbye to fans after his summer move to Los Angeles FC.

The South Korean forward joined the MLS side in a £20 million deal, ending his nine-year spell in north London, where he became one of Spurs’ most beloved players.

From joining in 2015 to captaining the side to Europa League glory in 2025, Son made 445 appearances and scored 173 goals cementing his status as a club legend.

However, his final game for Spurs came during a pre-season friendly in Seoul, leaving him without a proper farewell.

Speaking to Shoot for Love, Son said he is eager to return to north London to thank supporters in person.

“I think I deserve to say goodbye in front of all of them, and they deserve to see me in a physical sense to say goodbye,” he said. “It’s going to be a very emotional day… I can’t wait to go back to London and see all the Spurs fans.”

Since joining LAFC, Son has been sensational, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in just 10 games. His arrival has sparked record-breaking global engagement, with LAFC’s social media views soaring to 34 billion and merchandise sales surpassing even Lionel Messi’s.

According to The Sun, Son’s contract includes a “Beckham Clause” that could allow a short-term European loan during the MLS off-season.

Reports suggest AC Milan, Tottenham, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona are all monitoring the situation.

Son’s current LAFC contract runs until 2027, with an option to extend to 2029, but his heart remains tied to Tottenham and fans may yet see him back in white before the 2026 World Cup.

He will next feature for LAFC in the MLS Cup play-offs against Austin on October 29.
