Real Betis End Antony Transfer

Betis end pursuit of Antony amid financial hurdles

Real Betis have officially withdrawn from negotiations to sign Manchester United winger Antony, citing unaffordable salary demands and a costly exit package. The collapse comes just hours after a reported £21.6 million ($29m) agreement had been reached.

Betis Step Away from Talks

Antony had been given permission to travel to Spain to finalise personal terms, with United and Betis initially striking a deal that included a transfer fee and a 50% sell-on clause. However, discussions over wages broke down, as Betis refused to cover the full package.

Betis’ Official Statement

In a firm statement, Betis confirmed:

There is no agreement and we have withdrawn the transfer offer because Real Betis can’t afford the transfer fee and the amounts that Manchester United must pay the player before the transfer.”

United’s Stance

Inside Old Trafford, United reportedly view Betis’ withdrawal as a negotiation tactic rather than a permanent decision. The Premier League side believe Betis are still keen to sign the 25-year-old Brazilian but are pushing for Antony to compromise on his personal terms.

What Next for Antony?

Antony has two years left on his contract at Old Trafford, but his future remains in limbo. Betis insist they cannot proceed without a reduced financial package, while United remain reluctant to keep a player whose career trajectory appears to lie elsewhere. With the transfer deadline approaching, Antony’s situation hangs in the balance.
