According to The Sun, players were optimistic after a strong U.S. pre-season but are shocked by the slump. Amorim’s record since arriving in November 2024 stands at just nine wins and 34 points in 33 league games.
Speculation over replacements is already swirling. Joe Cole believes former England boss Gareth Southgate would be a “perfect” fit to rebuild the club’s culture if Amorim departs. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that ex-Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is “studying” the Premier League and would be ready if United made an approach.
