Former Liverpool fitness coach Jordan Fairclough has revealed that Dominik Szoboszlai initially pushed back against the club’s training instructions after his arrival.
Speaking to The Redmen TV, Fairclough explained that the Hungarian captain was accustomed to relying on his natural ability in previous leagues and was not used to the same level of gym-based strength work.
“But he came to the Premier League, different league, different intensity, so there was a daily negotiation about what he should do,” Fairclough said.
The coach praised Szoboszlai’s eventual adaptability, noting that the midfielder fully embraced the club’s fitness program over time. His willingness to adjust has been key to meeting the higher physical demands of English football.
