Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton’s plans for Brazil duty were thrown into chaos after their flight was forced to turn around due to a broken window.

The Newcastle duo were travelling from Amsterdam to Seoul to join Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for friendlies against South Korea and Japan.

[Globo reports] the pair spent 12 hours in the air before landing back in Amsterdam, leaving the CBF scrambling to make new travel arrangements.

Joelinton was set to take a direct flight, while Bruno aimed to make a connection to reach South Korea as quickly as possible.

Their delay comes after featuring in Newcastle’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, with Forest’s Igor Jesus and John Victor already training with Brazil in Seoul.

The disrupted journey has sparked concern over fatigue and injury risk, with the players now set to travel more than 10,000 air miles before returning for Newcastle’s clash with Brighton on October 18.

Bruno remains a key figure for Brazil, often partnering Casemiro in midfield, while Joelinton continues to fight for a place in Ancelotti’s plans.

Brazil face South Korea on Friday and Japan on October 14 before the Newcastle pair head back for domestic and European duties.
