Bruno Fernandes rejects Saudi offers as Turki Al-Sheikh hints at Man Utd sale

Bruno Fernandes has no plans to leave Manchester United for Saudi Arabia, despite offers from Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad last summer. The United captain remains committed to Ruben Amorim’s rebuilding project at Old Trafford.

[The BBC reports] insiders close to Fernandes insist the 31-year-old has no intention of moving after next year’s World Cup. His current deal runs until 2027, with an option for a further year.

[The Manchester Evening News reports] Fernandes would only consider joining a side from a major European league. United hope to meet that standard next season by qualifying for the Champions League.

Amorim has struggled to turn United form around since replacing Erik ten Hag last November. The club finished 15th last season and currently sit 10th after seven matches, with three wins, three losses and one draw.

A shock Carabao Cup defeat to League Two Grimsby Town added to the pressure, fuelling speculation over Fernandes’ future. But the midfielder has remained a central figure under Amorim.

Meanwhile, Turki Al-Sheikh has stirred speculation about United’s ownership.

In a post on X, the Saudi businessman wrote: “The best news I heard today is that Manchester United is now in an advanced stage of completing a deal to sell to a new investor. I hope he’s better than the previous owners.”

His comments came hours after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s interview, in which the Ineos chief gave no indication he plans to sell his stake in the club.
