Arsenal have held internal discussions about expanding the capacity of the Emirates Stadium.

The talks are still at an early stage, with no decision yet made on how to move forward.

It’s understood the possibility of playing home matches at Wembley Stadium during the work has been discussed.

Next year will mark 20 years since the Gunners moved from Highbury to the Emirates.

The discussions also explored changing the seating plan to add thousands of seats as Arsenal look to keep pace with England’s largest stadiums.

With a current capacity of 60,704, the Emirates is the fifth-largest football ground in the country behind Manchester United’s Old Trafford (74,879), Tottenham (62,850), West Ham (62,500) and Liverpool (61,276).
