Andre Onana Joins Trabzonspor from Manchester united

Andre Onana has completed his loan switch to Trabzonspor, ending a turbulent spell at Manchester United.

The deal does not include a purchase option, and United will not receive a loan fee, though the Turkish side will cover his wages in full.

Onana’s Exit After United Struggles

The 29-year-old Cameroon goalkeeper arrived in Turkey on Thursday with his wife Melanie to finalise the move. Onana had featured just once this season for United, in the shock Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town.

His campaign was disrupted by a summer hamstring injury that kept him out of pre-season. During his absence, Turkish shot-stopper Altay Bayindir played in United’s opening three Premier League matches.

Deadline day also saw manager Ruben Amorim bring in Belgian keeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, a decision that further paved the way for Onana’s departure.

Financial Boost for Onana at Trabzonspor

According to the Mail, Onana will double his wages at Trabzonspor thanks to Turkey’s favourable tax system.

His salary had recently dropped from around £170,000 a week to £120,000 after United missed out on the Champions League. Trabzonspor’s agreement means Onana takes home a much-improved net income.

United’s Statement and Fan Reaction

United released a message wishing him well:

“In his first season at United, Andre was part of the squad that lifted the Emirates FA Cup after beating Manchester City at Wembley. He played 50 times in his second campaign and has now agreed a loan move to Trabzonspor. We wish him good luck.”

However, many fans reacted with relief on social media. Comments on United’s Instagram included: “Good riddance, better late than never!” and “End of an error.”

Still, some supporters defended him, with one writing: “The problem isn’t you, the problem is Manchester United. Everyone who leaves that place hits their prime elsewhere. Good luck, Onana.”
