Garnacho exhausted in first Chelsea training

Alejandro Garnacho has already been tested to his limits at Chelsea. The £40m signing from Manchester United was left exhausted after an intense training session.

The winger, who clashed with Ruben Amorim at United, is now pushing himself to impress under Enzo Maresca in west London.

TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED

Garnacho left Manchester United this summer after falling out with Amorim. He was placed in the club’s ‘bomb squad’ before sealing a seven-year deal with Chelsea.

The transfer was worth £40m ($54m) plus a 10% sell-on clause. Now at Cobham, the Argentine winger is going through intense training sessions to reach top fitness.

After one drill, Garnacho was caught on camera gasping for air and admitting:

“I can’t move my legs now, man. That sprint in the last one.”

THE GRAND SCHEME

Garnacho came through United’s academy and made his senior debut in April 2022 against Chelsea in the Premier League. He went on to lift the Carabao Cup and FA Cup at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag.

But his time under Amorim quickly soured, leading to his exit. His Chelsea move is now a fresh chapter, and fans are eager to see how he adapts to Enzo Maresca’s system.

WHAT NEXT FOR GARNACHO?

Chelsea return after the international break with a Premier League clash against Brentford on September 13. Garnacho will be hoping to make his debut, though his fitness levels remain under question after his tough first sessions.

For Manchester United fans, his exit marks the end of a once-promising academy journey. For Chelsea supporters, it’s the start of something new.
