Zinedine Zidane hails Real Madrid’s 2017 Champions League final as ‘perfection’

Zinedine Zidane has revealed he’s rewatched Real Madrid’s 2017 Champions League final win over Juventus more than six times, describing it as “perfection.”

The French legend, who guided Los Blancos to three consecutive European crowns, called the 4-1 victory in Cardiff the pinnacle of his managerial career.

Speaking at the Festival Dello Sport hosted by La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Zidane reflected on the night Cristiano Ronaldo, Casemiro and Marco Asensio fired Madrid to glory, praising the team’s second-half dominance.

“The best moment of my career after the World Cup? Our second Champions League against Juventus,” Zidane said. “The way we played that second half… it was truly spectacular. I’ve watched it four, five, six times… and I’ve always said: ‘This is football.’ Perfection.”

Since leaving Madrid in 2021, Zidane has remained one of football’s most sought-after managers, with links to Chelsea, Manchester United, and the Saudi Pro League.

The 53-year-old also reiterated his long-term ambition to manage the French national team, saying: “I will definitely return to coaching. One of my goals is to coach the French national team. We’ll see.”
