Real Madrid believe they can overhaul Barcelona and win La Liga this season after the Catalans suffered a shock 2-1 loss to Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Despite dominating possession and chances at Anoeta, Barcelona’s 11-match winning run came to an abrupt end, allowing Los Blancos to close the gap to just one point at the top of the table after 20 matchdays.
According to The Athletic, the mood inside Real Madrid is increasingly optimistic, with the view that Barcelona are far from invincible now their streak has been snapped. Despite their own inconsistent recent form, Madrid expect a resurgence under their new manager to fuel a strong push over the remaining 18 games.
