Girona manager Michel Sanchez praised his players’ character after they drew 1-1 with Getafe in the 21st round of La Liga.
The Girona boss was pleased with how his side reacted after going behind and said the performance showed the strength of the squad.
“Despite the result, I think we played a very good match, and the team did not lose spirit after conceding a goal. The reaction was fantastic, and we responded well, so I am satisfied. It shows the character of the squad,” Michel said.
He also highlighted the difficulty of competing in Spain’s top flight and the impact of squad depth.
“La Liga is very tough. New players strengthen us, but we already had a squad capable of competing at this level. This makes us even stronger and more prepared for the challenges ahead.”
Michel added that the contest reflected the competitive nature of the league rather than a physical battle.
“I saw a normal game, where everyone fought for their objectives. I didn’t see a dirty match. Both teams showed determination and competed hard, which makes the league so competitive.”
