LaLiga launches €50 reward scheme to fight piracy

LaLiga has launched a new initiative to combat piracy in bars, restaurants, and betting shops. [SPORT reports]

The league will offer a €50 reward to anyone who validly reports establishments illegally showing football matches.

Reports can be submitted via LaLiga’s Whistleblowing Channel, which is secure, confidential, and quick to use. Citizens are asked to attach images for verification.

LaLiga explains: “If during the broadcast you don’t see a ‘B’ in the case of a bar or an ‘A’ in the case of a betting shop, that establishment is not authorized and the broadcast is illegal.”

President Javier Tebas added: “Piracy harms the entire football ecosystem and, especially, bars, restaurants, and betting shops that comply with the law. We want everyone to be able to identify an illegal broadcast and to know that they can report it to us easily, safely, and confidentially.”
