Thomas Muller trains with Bayern again

Thomas Muller has surprised fans by training in Bayern Munich colours again, just weeks after completing his MLS move to Vancouver Whitecaps. The Germany legend returned to familiar surroundings at Sabener Strasse during the international break.

TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED

The 35-year-old ended his 17-season Bayern career in early August before joining Vancouver Whitecaps. But on Tuesday morning, Muller was back in Munich.

He joined Aleksandar Pavlovic and youth striker Felipe Chavez for an intense fitness session led by Bayern’s staff.

According to Bild, Muller greeted everyone with his trademark “Servus!” before completing a 52-minute workout.

The drills included sprints, coordination training, and resistance work. In typical fashion, he even helped staff tidy up cones and equipment once finished.

WATCH THE CLIP

Muller’s session was captured in clips that quickly spread among Bayern fans online. Seeing their legend back in red gear less than a month after his departure sparked waves of nostalgia.

THE GRAND SCHEME

The cameo highlights Muller’s deep bond with Bayern. A one-club man for 17 seasons, he made 756 appearances, scored 250 goals, and collected nearly every major trophy.

His brief return to training symbolised how Bayern continue to embrace their legends even after they move on.

On a wider level, Muller’s stop in Munich shows the balance between closing one career chapter and starting another.

After leaving Europe for MLS, he is still keeping close ties with the club where he made his name.

GIVE ME MORE INSIGHT

The international break left Bayern’s senior squad depleted, opening the chance for Muller to work with Pavlovic and Chavez.

Pavlovic has often called Muller a mentor, and their bond was evident again on the training ground.

Meanwhile, in North America, Muller has already shown his quality. He scored and produced a match-winning display in Vancouver’s 3-2 win over St. Louis City, proving he still brings a competitive edge.

WHAT NEXT?

For Bayern, Muller’s short visit is a feel-good story that fits the club’s tradition of honouring its icons.

For Vancouver Whitecaps, focus shifts to integrating Muller further into the team. With his leadership and creativity, he will be key when they face Philadelphia Union on September 14.
