Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of former Real Madrid right back Lucas Vázquez on a free transfer, handing the veteran a two-year deal through June 2027.
The 34-year-old will wear the No. 21 shirt at the BayArena. Leverkusen announced the move on Tuesday, highlighting his experience and quality as the Bundesliga champions continue reshaping their squad.

Rolfes Hails “Extremely Experienced” Signing
Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes praised the addition of the Spanish defender in comments carried by AP News:
“In Lucas Vázquez we have signed an extremely experienced player who has won everything there is to win with Real Madrid over the last 10 years. Lucas will have a great influence on our game with his football finesse and special routine and he will become a key part of our team.”
Rolfes has already overseen a significant squad overhaul since coach Xabi Alonso returned to Madrid at the end of last season. Stars including Florian Wirtz, Granit Xhaka, Jonathan Tah, and Jeremie Frimpong have all left the club. Vázquez is expected to slot in at right back as Frimpong’s replacement.
